Troubleshooting

Find your symptom, try the safe checks in order, then use the last list if you want to report it.

CRB is in private testing and has not been released, so these fixes are for people testing it. They will apply to everyone once it is public.

Find your symptom, try the safe checks in order, and use the last block if you need to report it.

CRB does not appear in the game

Likely causes

  • The folder is in the wrong place or has the wrong name.
  • The ZIP was extracted into an extra folder, so the addon is one level too deep.
  • The game has marked the addon out of date after a game update.

Safe checks

  • Open the AddOns folder and look for CroginRotationBuddy_Forever directly inside it. Inside that folder you should see CroginRotationBuddy_Forever.toc.
  • The normal location is _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\.
  • On the character screen, open AddOns and check that Crogin's Rotation Buddy - Forever is in the list and ticked.

Fix

  • Move the folder so that the final path ends with _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\CroginRotationBuddy_Forever\.
  • If the list shows it as out of date, tick the option to load out of date addons, then log in.
  • Log in and type /crb. If nothing happens, type /reload and try again.

If you report it, include

  • The game version shown on the character screen.
  • A screenshot of the AddOns list and of the folder contents.
  • CRB version 0.6.3-beta.

CRB recommends the wrong spell

Likely causes

  • The rule is wrong. Every rotation rule is marked Testing until it has been checked in the game.
  • CRB picked a different talent tree than you expected.
  • A higher spell was passed over because it was on cooldown, in the wrong form or aimed at the wrong target.

Safe checks

  • Turn on Learning mode (Control Center, then Learning Mode) and hover the main icon to see what was passed over and why.
  • Type /crb cooldown to see what CRB recommends, what it passed over, and what the game reports for each spell.
  • Type /crb state for your form or stance and /crb target for the target's creature type.

Fix

  • If it passed over a spell for a good reason, nothing is wrong.
  • If the rule itself looks wrong, report it. Rules come from published guides and change as Forever does.

If you report it, include

  • Your class, talent build and level.
  • What CRB showed and what you expected.
  • The output of /crb cooldown from the moment it went wrong.

CRB uses the wrong spell rank

Likely causes

  • The rank table comes from published spell data and has not been confirmed in the game yet.
  • Some spells exist under two spell ids, and CRB may have matched the other one.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb ranks to see which rank CRB uses for each spell you know and where each number came from. A line marked [CONFLICT] means the game disagreed with the table.
  • Type /crb ranks conflicts to list only those lines, or /crb verify ids to see which of two ids your character has.

Fix

  • The game's own number wins over the table when it reports one, so a conflict usually fixes itself in play.
  • /crb ranks reset forgets lengths CRB measured on your own damage-over-time effects.

If you report it, include

  • The spell name and the line from /crb ranks spellname.
  • /crb ranks export prints one plain line per spell to paste.

A spell I expect is missing from the card

Likely causes

  • You have not learned it yet. Every recommendation is filtered against the spells you know.
  • It needs a form, stance or target type you are not in.
  • It is waiting on its cooldown, so it is left out of the Next row.

Safe checks

  • Check that the spell is in your spellbook.
  • Look at the footer of the card for your form or stance, and type /crb state.
  • The Next row only lists spells you can use right now. Under Rotation, turn on Show spells waiting on a cooldown in the Next row to see them dimmed.

Fix

  • Change form or stance out of combat if the spell belongs to another one.
  • The Paladin spell Exorcism is only offered against Undead and Demon targets. Type /crb target to see what CRB reads.

If you report it, include

  • The spell name, your class, build and level.
  • The output of /crb state and /crb target.

The recommendation does not change

Likely causes

  • The spell that is first in the list is still the right one to press.
  • Forever hides cooldown timing from addons in some situations, and CRB uses the game's yes or no answers instead.

Safe checks

  • Cast a spell that has a cooldown, then type /crb cooldown.
  • Type /crb cooldown watch to print a line whenever a spell starts or stops cooling or the recommendation changes. Type it again to stop.

Fix

  • If the game says a spell is ready and CRB says it is cooling, that is worth reporting with the printed lines.

If you report it, include

  • The printed lines from /crb cooldown watch.
  • Your class and spec, and which spell seems stuck.

The key shown on the card is missing or does not match

Likely causes

  • No key has been set for that spell in CRB's Keybinds page.
  • A binding changed during combat. CRB saves it and applies it when combat ends.
  • Another addon or the game's own binding uses the same key.

Safe checks

  • Open Control Center, then Keybinds. The editor shows conflicts.
  • Leave combat and check again.

Fix

  • Click the key box and press the key you want. Shift, Ctrl and Alt combinations and mouse buttons 3, 4 and 5 work.
  • CRB heal keys are off by default and have no default keys. Turn them on in Keybinds when you want them.

If you report it, include

  • Which spell and which key.
  • Whether the key works when you press it, apart from the card showing it.

The card is too big or too small

Likely causes

  • The default size does not suit your screen or text size.

Safe checks

  • Look at Layout and Appearance in Control Center.

Fix

  • Drag the lower-right corner of the card to resize it.
  • Use the layout choices (Auto, Wide card, Tall card, Icon only) or the text size slider.
  • Quick setups such as Large text, Low vision and Minimal HUD change several settings at once.

If you report it, include

  • Your screen resolution and UI scale.
  • A screenshot of the card.

The card or window moved or reset

Likely causes

  • The card was locked, or unlocked and dragged by accident.
  • /crb reset was used. It resets settings but keeps saved profiles.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb unlock to move the card and /crb lock to fix it in place.

Fix

  • You can set the exact position with numbers and nudge buttons instead of dragging.
  • Type /crb resetwindow to put the Control Center back to its standard size.

If you report it, include

  • What you did just before it moved.
  • Your UI scale.

The minimap button is missing

Likely causes

  • The button is switched off, or another addon is hiding it.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb. The Control Center opens even without the button.

Fix

  • Type /crb minimap to show or hide the button.

If you report it, include

  • Other minimap-button addons you run.

A controller button does not work

Likely causes

  • Controller support is in beta and has not been tested with a real controller yet.
  • A combination such as LT + A needs a controller button set to act as Shift, Ctrl or Alt in the game's own settings.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb pad to see what the game reports about your controller, its modifier buttons and the last button CRB saw.
  • Type /crb pad glyphs to open a small window with all 16 button pictures and see whether any fail to load.

Fix

  • Set the modifiers under Controller, then Controller modifiers.
  • Binding changes made in combat wait until combat ends.

If you report it, include

  • The output of /crb pad.
  • The type of controller and which button failed.

Form or stance problems

Likely causes

  • The game did not report your form, so CRB shows everything as before.
  • The form hides spells it cannot cast, such as caster spells and heals in Cat or Bear Form.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb state. It shows what CRB sees and which of your spells the current form hides.

Fix

  • Change form out of combat. The click-cast bar, if you use it, rebuilds for the new form when combat ends.

If you report it, include

  • The output of /crb state and the form you were in.

A buff or damage-over-time timer looks wrong

Likely causes

  • Forever can hide cooldown, aura and resource numbers from addons. CRB never guesses with a hidden number.
  • A timer shown with ~ is an estimate from your own casts.

Safe checks

  • Type /crb verify duration spellname (for example Rend) to compare the real length on your target with what CRB expects.

Fix

  • Estimates correct themselves as CRB sees more of your casts. There is nothing to change.

If you report it, include

  • The spell, the rank, and the output of /crb verify duration.

The game shows a Lua error from CRB

Likely causes

  • Forever changes quickly. A build can change a spell, talent, cooldown or protected value that CRB reads.

Safe checks

  • Note the full error text exactly as the game shows it.

Fix

  • Report it. The addon is updated as Forever changes.

If you report it, include

  • The full Lua error text.
  • Your class and talent build.
  • What CRB was recommending at the time.
  • CRB version 0.6.3-beta and the game build.

My settings were reset

Likely causes

  • /crb reset was used.
  • The addon was updated and its settings were migrated to a new layout.

Safe checks

  • Open Control Center, then Profiles, and look for your saved profiles.

Fix

  • Load a saved profile. Profiles keep your look and layout but never include keybindings, so set those again in Keybinds.

If you report it, include

  • The version you updated from, if you know it.

Still stuck? Report it with the details from the last list in the matching entry.
