The Gleaming Depths raid

Since Dec 2024

A former Enclave lab under the Ash Heap, where Ultracite was once researched. It's built for four high-level, well-geared players and has five encounters, each a boss fight with its own co-op mechanics. Encounters checkpoint as you clear them.

  • No revives mid-fight. If you go down, you spectate your team until the encounter ends in success or failure.
  • No time gating. You can run it back to back; it's the main source of 4-star items and mods.
  • Roles matter. Unlike Daily Ops, the raid is designed so a solo build can't carry it; bosses also punish some build types.
  • Form a Raid public team before entering for a weapon durability bonus that only works inside.
  • The contextual ping system marks enemies, allies and objects if you'd rather not use voice chat.

Infestations

Since Jun 2026

Infestations take over a location with a tougher faction and an elite boss. You have to find them: the paper map shows the general area, not the exact spot.

Regions
Toxic Valley, the Forest, the Ash Heap, the Savage Divide, the Mire and the Cranberry Bog. Several can be active at once, and one moves on if nobody clears it.
Factions
Blood Eagles, Cultists, Communists, Mole Miners, Scorched, Super Mutants and Robots (plus Slasher cultists during The Slasher event).
Boss
Carries a unique weapon and a random mutation. Boss health was lowered in September 2026.
Rewards
Regular enemies can drop 3-star gear; the boss gives a guaranteed 4-star weapon or armor piece and can drop the Infestation-only Vector and Tarnished mods.

Bounty Hunting

Burning Springs, since Dec 2025

Bounty Hunting runs from the Last Resort saloon in Highway Town, Burning Springs, where The Ghoul hands out contracts. Reach it by crossing the Point Pleasant bridge; the region's questline starts at level 30 from the Ohio Distress Signal on your radio.

Grunt Hunts
Take a poster from the saloon table. The target spawns at a random Burning Springs location with a mutation that spreads to enemies near it. Targets start as 1-star legendaries and climb to 3-star as you complete more. Repeat as often as you like.
Head Hunts
A premium poster (a rare Grunt Hunt reward, or bought from The Ghoul for caps) starts a server-wide public event on the board outside. One runs at a time. The target is always a 3-star legendary with two 2-star posse members, and can drop bounty-only legendary mods.

Daily Ops

Instanced, repeatable missions for up to four players. There are two modes, Uplink and Decryption, and each day the location, enemy faction and enemy mutations are randomized. See today's on the map under World Activity.

  • Base rewards every time you finish.
  • Three timed tiers, once a day each: Initiate, Paladin and Elder. The faster the clear, the better the chance at unique loot.
  • Rare pool: The Slasher added 13 uniques, from Acceptable Overkill to The Farmhand, plus Fancy weapon paints.

Locations, factions and mutations

Bethesda Support's current list

Locations: Arktos Pharma Biome Labs, Charleston Capitol Building, Garrahan Mining Headquarters, Morgantown High School, The Burning Mine, The Burrows, Uncanny Caverns, Valley Galleria, Vault 94, Vault 96, Watoga Civic Center, Watoga High School, West Tek Research Center.

Factions: Aliens, Blood Eagles, Communists, Mothman Cultists, Mole Miners, Robots, Scorched, Super Mutants.

Mutations (one, or two during Double Mutations; Uplink always adds Piercing Gaze): Piercing Gaze (enemies spot you easily), Volatile (explode on death), Active Camouflage (cloaked unless attacking), Resilient (only a melee attack can kill them), Freezing Touch (attacks freeze you), Savage Strike (more melee damage), Swift-Footed (faster), Healing Factor (regenerate health).

Expeditions

Expeditions are instanced missions outside Appalachia, currently The Pitt and Atlantic City. You launch them from the Expeditions vertibird (the Vertibird icon on your map). Bethesda notes they can be soloed with the right build, unlike the raid.

Atlantic City extras

Atlantic City's quest The Most Sensational Game is one source of the Marine under-armor style, and the Flooded City quest The Human Condition unlocks the Civil Engineer style. Under-armor styles.

Public event bosses

Since Mar 2026

Bigfoot, a 4-star legendary creature, can show up at the end of some public events. It swings a tree branch and throws bloodsucking ticks, and leaves if you take too long. Killing it gives a chance at a 4-star item with the exclusive Thrillseeker mod.

Other uninvited guests can crash events too, such as the Wendigo Colossus or a Deathclaw Matriarch at events like Guided Meditation and Distinguished Guests.

Nuke bosses

Launching a nuke on the right zone starts a nuke boss event. Bosses named in recent notes include the Scorchbeast Queen, Earle, the Storm Goliath and the Nuka World on Tour boss; several drop named armor (Rage from Earle, Bulwark from the Storm Goliath, Last Stand from the Nuka World on Tour boss). Nuke bosses also unlock the Casual under-armor style.

Public events in general pay 150 caps, two legendaries, 3–5 Legendary Modules and 3 Treasury Notes.

Prep checklist

CGN suggestions

Build

  • One damage style, fully carded.
  • A plan for staying alive: armor rating, healing, or a Power Armor revive.
  • A backup weapon for enemies your main can't handle (flyers, melee-only Resilient kills).

Supplies

  • Stimpaks and RadAway.
  • Ammo for your main weapon (and fusion cores if you wear Power Armor).
  • Food buffs; Ghouls, chems for the Feral meter.

Team

  • Raid: join a Raid public team and agree on roles first.
  • Infestations: an Exploration team finds them faster.
  • Daily Ops: read the day's mutations before you pick a loadout.
