Sources and method

How this site checks facts

Grand Theft Auto VI is still unreleased, so most of what is online is guesswork. This page explains where our facts come from, how we label them, how we handle the launch, and the limits of what we can check.

14 sources

Checked Sep 30, 2026 against Rockstar's own pages

The rules we follow

  1. Rockstar first

Release details, editions, characters and regions come from Rockstar's own site, Newswire, support articles and store pages, plus the PlayStation and Xbox store listings that carry Rockstar's text. Press reports, leaks and fan wikis are not used as facts.

  2. Label every claim

Each claim carries one of four labels, explained below, so you can see whether Rockstar said it, showed it, or whether it is our reading.

  3. No guesses

If Rockstar has not said it, we say that, and every such row carries the date we checked.

  4. Dates on everything

Pages carry a checked date, prices carry the date they were read, and sources carry the date we read them.

What the labels mean

  • Official
Rockstar says it in text on its own site, Newswire, support or store pages, or the platform store listings that carry Rockstar's text. Each one has a dated source link.
  • Shown
It appears in a Rockstar screenshot, caption or piece of cover art that Rockstar has not described in text. This is our reading of the image.
  • CGN
Our own summary, grouping or comment. It is not a Rockstar statement.
  • Not announced
Listed so nobody has to guess. Rockstar has not said anything about it on the pages we checked, and each row carries the date we checked.

How the launch is handled

The site has three states: pre-launch, launch week and released. The state is changed by hand, and only after Rockstar's own pages confirm the status. It is never switched by the calendar, so on the release date the countdown stops and says to check Rockstar's Newswire until the state is updated.

After release, the pre-launch timeline stays as history, and every row marked not announced is re-checked against the released game before the wording changes. Nothing is added just because a feature is expected.

Keeping it current

The news list and dates are kept by hand from Rockstar's Newswire, because Rockstar offers no feed a website can rely on. When Rockstar posts something that changes a fact here, we update the page and its checked date.

What this site does not do

  • It is not run by Rockstar. It is an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
  • It does not host Rockstar's media. We link to Rockstar's own screenshots, trailers and artwork instead of copying them, and we do not embed its videos.
  • It does not repeat rumors. Leaks and speculation stay out. Open questions are listed as not announced.
  • It has not played the game. Nothing here is hands-on. Notes on what screenshots show are our reading of the images and are labeled as such.
  • It does not track prices. Prices are dated and tied to the store page they came from.

Artwork and rights

The pictures at the top of pages are original CGN fan artwork inspired by the game. They are not Rockstar artwork, contain no official logos or screenshots, and do not show confirmed scenes, characters or vehicles. Each one is tagged CGN fan art on the image. Maps, screens, game boxes, notes and photos drawn in them are invented.

Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto VI and related names and logos belong to Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games. Descriptions on this site are our own summaries of Rockstar's pages.
