The short version

Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar Games' next Grand Theft Auto game. It is set in the state of Leonida, in and around a modern-day Vice City, and it follows two leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Rockstar calls it a single player experience.

It comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version.

Rockstar's premise: Jason and Lucia already expect the odds to be against them. An easy job goes wrong, and they end up inside a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida, with little choice but to depend on each other. Official

Five decisions before launch

In the order most people need to make them.

  1. Pick a platform

PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation listing says PS5 Pro Enhanced and the Xbox listing says Optimized for Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's site says it plays best on PlayStation 5.

  2. Pick an edition

The Standard Edition ($79.99) is the game. The Ultimate Edition ($99.99) adds 16 items, such as vehicles, weapons, outfits and shops. Standard owners can upgrade later. Compare them.

  3. Decide on pre-ordering

Purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital purchases also include one month of GTA+.

  4. Digital or physical

The physical version is a box with a download code. A disc is not included.

  5. Plan the download

Pre-load opens November 12, 2026. Rockstar has not published an install size.
