Season 15: Season of Hell's Legacy

Live since September 15 for Diablo's 30th anniversary. Blizzard has not announced an end date.

Deckard Cain's lost soul sends you after three dark wanderers. You defeat the echoes of Diablo, Baal and Mephisto, collect a Splinter of Evil and carry one of them. It gives you an Iconic Power, a reputation track and modifiers for particular endgame activities, and it makes you easier for that Prime Evil to find.

New this season are Waking Nightmares (rebuilt fights from earlier games), eight Soul Splinters that go in your jewelry, and Season Rank goals. Nine Legacy Uniques, including Leoric's Crown and the Stone of Jordan, are permanent.

Limited-time or permanent?

Blizzard says the nine Legacy Uniques stay in the game on Seasonal and Eternal realms. The questline, Splinters of Evil, Soul Splinters and Waking Nightmares are Season 15 features. For shared War Plans, Rebirth, the Horadric Post and the new Cube recipes Blizzard has not said what happens when the season ends, so we mark them that way.

Builds the sources agree on

For Pit and Tower pushing, these are rated S or near it by every tracked source that lists them.

That is a short list on purpose. Maxroll (September 26), Mobalytics (September 25, ranked by real Tower results) and Icy Veins (September 14, before launch) disagree about a lot, especially the Paladin builds. We show the placements side by side rather than blending them into one ranking.

Endgame in one path

What to do after the campaign, in order.

  1. Reach level 70 and settle on a build

The cap is 70 for everyone. Pick from the build list; a Starter setup is enough to begin.

  2. Climb through Torment

Torment I to XII now replaces the old four tiers, with bigger experience and drop bonuses each step. Lair Bosses need Torment I.

  3. Build your gear loop

Temper and Masterwork at the Blacksmith, then use the Horadric Cube and the Talisman for control. Set a Loot Filter so you only stop for what matters.

  4. Chain activities with War Plans

War Plans lets you queue up to five activities and teleports you from one to the next. Progress is now shared across your characters.

  5. Push, bosses and the arena

Use the Pit and Tower to test your build, Lair Bosses for Mythic Uniques, and Echoing Hatred once you hold a Trace of Echoes. The full breakdown is on the endgame page.

New or returning?

Guides written before April 27, 2026 are out of date in ways that matter.

  • The level cap is 70 and Torment runs to XII, for every player.
  • Skill trees were rebuilt: passives left the tree and each active skill has three branches of choices.
  • A Loot Filter can hide, show and recolor gear.
  • Paladin and Warlock need Lord of Hatred; Spiritborn comes with any Lord of Hatred purchase.

Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection bundles the base game and both expansions. Play the Lord of Hatred campaign first if you own it, or skip the story once you have finished it on any character.

How this site checks facts

Blizzard's own notes come first. Specialist sites such as Maxroll, Mobalytics and Icy Veins supply build and tier interpretation, and those are always labeled as opinion. We do not copy their guides or rankings; we summarize, cite and link. Where sources conflict, we say so instead of picking a winner.
