Horadric Cube · Lord of Hatred
The Horadric Cube
The Cube lets you transmute, reroll, upgrade and create gear, Charms and runes. This page lists recipes and materials as documented on September 19, marks what Season 15 added, and tells you where to trust the in-game screen instead.

Materials and Tuning Prisms
What powers the Cube and how to steer its randomness.
Materials
- Primordial Dust (Raw, Coarse, Refined, Volatile, Attuned, Enhanced, Pure). The main currency. Raw is the bulk material; each higher grade gates stronger recipes. Blizzard says Coarse gets rarer and the higher grades get more common as difficulty rises.
- Infused Horadric Resin. Used by the Charm and Talisman recipes. Comes from salvaging Talisman Charms and Seals.
- Tuning Prisms. Optional. They narrow a random recipe to a category of affix, so results are less random.
- Where materials come from. War Plans (Cube Spoils), Whisper caches, Elite monsters, and Kurast Undercity Tributes. Blizzard raised Whisper cache Cube material rewards by about two to three times in 3.2.1.
Tuning Prisms
- Aggressive Tuning Prism. Offensive affixes: main stat, weapon damage, attack speed, critical strike, damage multipliers, thorns.
- Protector's Tuning Prism. Defensive affixes: armor, damage reduction, dodge, maximum life, life on hit or kill, resistances.
- Pragmatic Tuning Prism. Utility and mobility: cooldown reduction, movement speed, barrier and fortify generation, lucky hit chance, healing received.
- Resourceful Tuning Prism. Resource affixes: maximum resource, resource cost reduction, regeneration, resource on kill.
- Adept's Tuning Prism. Main stat and skill ranks.
- Chromatic Tuning Prism. Resistances only, including a single chosen resistance. Blizzard made single resistances 7 times the value of All Resistance in 3.2.1.
- Entropic and Kullean Tuning Prism. Steer Transfiguration. Entropic guarantees a modest result and always locks the item; Kullean imprints a random Utility Aspect on an Amulet.
Recipes
Grouped by what they do. Recipes new in Season 15 are marked.
Modify gear
| Recipe | What it does | Inputs (as documented Sep 19) |
|---|---|---|
| Add Affix Permanent | Adds one random affix to a Common, Magic, Rare or Legendary item that is below its affix limit. A prism narrows the category. | The item, 1 Coarse Primordial Dust, 5 Raw Primordial Dust, optional prism. |
| Chaotic Reroll Permanent | Replaces a random affix with one of a different category. A prism sets the category of the affix that is removed. | A Magic, Rare or Legendary item, 1 Refined Primordial Dust, 15 Raw Primordial Dust, optional prism. |
| Focused Reroll Permanent | Changes an affix to another of the same category, for example crit chance to attack speed. Needs a prism to pick the category. | A Magic, Rare or Legendary item, 1 Refined Primordial Dust, 15 Raw Primordial Dust, a prism. |
| Remove Affix Permanent | Removes one random affix from a Magic or Rare item; a prism narrows which category is removed. | A Magic or Rare item, 1 Refined Primordial Dust, 15 Raw Primordial Dust, optional prism. |
| Affix Value Reroll New in Season 15 | Rerolls the values of every base affix on gear or a Talisman item while protecting Greater Affixes, Tempered and Enchanted affixes, Transfigured modifiers, Legendary powers and Unique powers. | A Rare or better item or Talisman item, 1 Attuned Primordial Dust, 100 Raw Primordial Dust, optional Infused Horadric Resin. Added to the Cube with Season 15 according to Blizzard's overview. |
| Transfigure Item Permanent | Adds a random extra modification, much like Season 11's Sanctification did, and then locks the item so it can only change gems or runes. Sometimes the item stays modifiable. Add sockets, Masterwork and the right Aspect first. | A Legendary, Unique or Mythic Unique item, 1 Volatile Primordial Dust, optional prism. |
| Unique Power Reroll Permanent | Rerolls the value of the Unique power on an Ancestral Unique until it lands high. | An Ancestral Unique, 1 Attuned Primordial Dust, 100 Raw Primordial Dust. |
Transmute
| Recipe | What it does | Inputs (as documented Sep 19) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 to 1 Transmutation Permanent | Turns three of the same equipment, Talisman or Rune type into one random new item of that type. Ancestral inputs guarantee an Ancestral result, and results can roll Greater Affixes. | Three items of the same type. |
| Recycle Unique Permanent | Three copies of the same Unique or Mythic Unique, or of a Unique Charm, become a new version of that item with fresh rolls. | Three identical Uniques or Unique Charms. |
| Craft Unique Permanent | Turns a Common equipment item into a random Unique of the same type; an Ancestral Common gives an Ancestral Unique. | A Common item, 1 Enhanced Primordial Dust, 10 Raw Primordial Dust. |
| Upgrade to Legendary Permanent | Turns a Rare equipment item into a Legendary with a random power. A prism narrows the category of that power. | A Rare item, 1 Pure Primordial Dust, 10 Raw Primordial Dust, optional prism. |
| Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic New in Season 15 | A one-to-one upgrade of an Ancestral Unique (900 Item Power) into its Mythic form, keeping every affix, Tempering and Masterwork. The most expensive way to get a Mythic Unique, but with no randomness. Items made this way carry a Crafted tag, and you can equip only one Crafted item. It cannot be used on an unmodifiable item. | An Ancestral Unique and 5 Resplendent Sparks. Blizzard's Season 15 overview describes this recipe and the Crafted tag; the cost is from Maxroll. |
Talisman
| Recipe | What it does | Inputs (as documented Sep 19) |
|---|---|---|
| Reroll Set Charm Permanent | Turns a Set Charm into a different Charm from the same set, with a small chance for each affix to be a Greater Affix. | One Set Charm, 25 Raw Primordial Dust, 50 Infused Horadric Resin. |
| Horadric Reroll New in Season 15 | Fully rerandomizes the base affixes on a Legendary or better Charm or Seal without touching set bonuses, Unique or Mythic powers, or Seal affixes. | A Legendary, Set, Unique or Mythic Talisman item, 1 Pure Primordial Dust, 100 Raw Primordial Dust, 100 Infused Horadric Resin. New in Season 15 according to Blizzard. |
| Craft Unique Charm Permanent | Turns a Unique item into a Unique Charm so its power can be worn in the Talisman. Some Uniques cannot be converted. Season 15 added several, including the Legacy Uniques marked as charm-capable. | An Ancestral Unique plus Cube materials; see Maxroll's list of craftable Unique Charms. |
Combine
| Recipe | What it does | Inputs (as documented Sep 19) |
|---|---|---|
| Amalgamation Permanent | Combines several of one item into a higher one: five Nightmare Sigils into an Escalation Sigil; five Magic Runes into a Rare Rune and five Rare Runes into a Legendary Rune; five matching Tributes into the next rarity; five Greater Tributes of Armaments into a Mythic Tribute; five matching Boss Trophies into a random Unique from that boss; five Grand Gems into a Horadric Gem and five Horadric Gems into a Flawless Horadric Gem. In Season 15 it also upgrades Soul Splinters. | Five of the same item. |
| Rune Crafting Permanent | Every Legendary Rune has a recipe: a specific lower rune plus five Rare runes and five Legendary runes. Useful when you need one rune and have a surplus of others. | One specific rune, 5 Rare runes, 5 Legendary runes. |
| Runeword crafting New in Season 15 | Season 15 recipes that turn a Common-quality base item and a set of runes into a classic Unique such as Enigma or Stealth. See the Runewords page. | A Common item and the runes for the recipe. Documented by Maxroll and Icy Veins; Blizzard's season overview does not describe it, but its 3.2.2 notes name the Edge and Lore Runewords. |

Tips that hold up
Tested Community tips from Maxroll's writers, restated. Your results depend on your gear.
- Use 3-to-1 on duplicates. It is a way to get a fresh roll of an item you cannot farm directly, including key Uniques.
- Test on throwaway items first. Learn what a recipe costs and how it behaves before committing your best piece.
- Add sockets, Masterwork and the right Aspect before Transfiguring. Transfiguration locks the item.
- Lock an affix by enchanting it. An enchanted affix is protected from removal, which helps when you reroll another stat in the same category.
- Spread utility stats across pieces. Rolling one stat at a time is cheaper than trying to fix several on one item.
- Farm Cube materials in the Undercity. Its Bargains let you choose what drops, and some modifiers reward large amounts.
