Season 15 · limited-time and permanent

Season of Hell's Legacy

A 30th-anniversary season built from Diablo's past: you redeem three dark wanderers, bear a Splinter of a Prime Evil, and pick up nine Legacy Uniques that stay in the game. This page separates what is limited-time from what is permanent.

Season 15Permanent

Checked September 29, 2026 · patch 3.2.2 · Season 15

Adventurers with an axe, a bow, a staff and a shield face a towering horned demon wreathed in red light inside a candlelit gothic cathedral with hanging censers, red banners and stone stairs.

The questline and the Splinters of Evil

Deckard Cain's lost soul sends you after three dark wanderers.

The seasonal questline takes you to the echoes of the Prime Evils at their iconic thrones. Beating them gives you a Splinter of Evil for each. You carry one at a time. While you do, you count as a dark wanderer: an Iconic Power erupts from you periodically in combat, you build reputation on that Prime Evil's track, and you become easier for that Prime Evil to find. Each track has eight activity modifiers and six upgrades to the Iconic Power, unlocked through War Plans. Official

All three tracks also modify the Tree of Whispers. To switch Splinters, return to the largest Waking Nightmares and win the rare resource that lets you change. Official

Waking Nightmares

Rebuilt fights and places from earlier Diablo games.

  • Capstone-size

Multi-level dungeons that recreate showdowns with the Prime Evils. You meet them in the questline and can replay them on Torment for rewards. They have fixed difficulty and appear as pinnacle Capstones at Torment 10 and above.

  • Standard dungeons

Normal-length dungeons at fixed locations that recreate familiar places, such as the Den of Evil from Diablo II.

  • Open-world encounters

One-room fights that appear suddenly: a past boss such as the spider Queen Araneae, or waves of monsters such as the dagger-wielding Flayers.

Nearly twenty bosses return, including Nihlathak and the Maggot Queen, along with characters such as Leah. Official

Soul Splinters

Seasonal gems that trade power for a drawback. You can equip up to three in your jewelry slots.

  • Splinter of Anguish (Andariel)
  • Splinter of Sin (Azmodan)
  • Splinter of Lies (Belial)
  • Splinter of the Black Soulstone
  • Splinter of Pain (Duriel)
  • Splinter of the Mother (Lilith)
  • Splinter of Hellfire (Na-Krul)
  • Splinter of Damnation (Skarn)

Splinters drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary or Unique. Use the Amalgamation recipe in the Horadric Cube to combine Splinters of the same type and rarity into the next rarity. Official

Community guides also refer to Lesser and Abyssal versions of these Splinters. Blizzard's overview does not use those words, so treat them as Tested naming.

Legacy Uniques

Nine items from Diablo's past, permanent on Seasonal and Eternal. Items marked with an asterisk can also be made into Unique Charms.

Mythic crafting and the Cube

The methods are unchanged; the outcomes are far more predictable.

Three ways to make a Mythic Unique

  • Horadric Cube: Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic. A one-to-one upgrade that keeps every affix, Tempering and Masterwork. It is the most expensive route, marks the item as Crafted, and you can equip only one Crafted item. It cannot be used on an unmodifiable item.
  • Jeweler: Rune Crafting. The Mythic Unique comes from your runes.
  • Blacksmith: Mythic cache. Now two caches at the same price: one rolls class-usable Mythic Uniques, the other only Iconic Mythics.

Official Blizzard also confirmed that Iconic Mythics stay Mythic-quality only, and that Mythic Charms have a small chance to drop whenever a Unique Charm drops.

Two new Cube recipes

  • Affix Value Reroll. Rerolls the base affixes on gear and on Talisman items while protecting Greater Affixes, Enchants, Tempers and Transfigurations.
  • Horadric Reroll. Fully randomizes base affixes on Legendary or better Charms and Seals without touching set bonuses or Unique and Mythic powers.

Shared War Plans, Rebirth and the Horadric Post

Shared War Plans progress

Points you earn in War Plans are shared across characters that match in all three partitions: Eternal or Seasonal, Non-Hardcore or Hardcore, and Normal or Solo Self-Found. Each character still has its own planner, where you spend the shared points, much like Paragon points.

Season 14 War Plans progress carried over to Eternal characters in the same partition at the September 15 changeover. Only living Hardcore characters can transfer progress. From now on, keep one living Hardcore character (even a level 1 one) so a dead character's progress can move to Eternal. Official War Plans

Rebirth

Convert an Eternal character to the Seasonal realm, reset to level 1. It keeps class, name, appearance and Normal or Hardcore state, and a running total of hours played across Rebirths. Cosmetic choices come along when saved as an ensemble. Empty the character of items first; Rebirth will not run while it holds any.

Horadric Post

A one-way mailbox through which the Diablo team delivers rewards and messages to your account. Official

Season Rank, Blessings and rewards

  • Season Rank: nine ranks and 125 objectives. Rewards include up to 14 skill points, up to 42 Paragon points, up to 10 Resplendent Sparks, 5 Mythic Unique caches, the Dark Wanderbear pet, a mount trophy and materials.
  • Lord of Hatred requirement: about 15% of the objectives, including those needed for Rank VIII, require the expansion.
  • Season Blessings are bought with Smoldering Ashes: Urn of Curiosities (a second item from the Purveyor of Curiosities), Urn of Reclamation (rare salvage materials), Urn of Masterworking (more Obducite), Urn of Glyphs (extra glyph upgrades) and Urn of Ancestral Whispers (Ancestral cache from Whispers).
  • Reliquary: a free Battle Pass Reliquary and several premium ones, all cosmetic (mounts, armor sets, pets, town portal). We do not evaluate paid items.

What patch 3.2.1 changed for everyone

Highlights from Blizzard's notes. Class-specific changes are on each class page.

  • Legendary drop rates rose in Torment I to V; VI and above are unchanged, and Blizzard wants fewer players to lean on Cube upgrades to complete their Aspect collection.
  • Every Unique can drop from level 1 in any difficulty.
  • Mythic Uniques from Initiate and Greater Lair Bosses and Belial's Hoard come only from that boss's pool. Initiate Mythic odds now match Greater. Echo of Mephisto gives a guaranteed Mythic.
  • Single Resistance affixes are now worth 7 times All Resistance affixes.
  • Royal Gems cost 10 Forgotten Souls to craft (was 30) and Grand Gems 50 (was 300). Enchanting Ancestral items costs 10 (was 25).
  • Expert and Penitent now unlock after the Prologue. Bonus experience at Torment XII rose from 1400% to 1700%.
  • War Plans, Whisper caches, the Pit and high Torment tiers give much more experience and materials.
  • Barbarian was reduced and parts of Warlock were trimmed; Druid, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Spiritborn and Paladin received buffs. See the class pages.

Classic Runewords

Season 15 also added crafting recipes for classic Runewords such as Enigma and Stealth, and new runes to make them. Blizzard's season overview does not describe them, but its 3.2.2 notes mention the Edge and Lore Runewords. We list them on their own page, marked as community-documented.
