How we check facts
Sources and method
Every fact on this site comes from a source we name, with a label that tells you how much to trust it and a date that tells you how old it is. This page explains the labels, the checking, and the limits.

Labels
The four labels
You will see these labels next to facts across the site.
- Official
Rockstar says it on its own pages: the game site, Newswire, the Rockstar Store or Rockstar Support. Each one carries a dated source link. - Support
A Rockstar Support article, for technical behavior such as requirements, patches and troubleshooting. - Community
Checked against a long-running community reference. Rockstar does not document this detail, so treat it as well-sourced but unofficial. - CGN
Our own summary, grouping or advice. It is not a Rockstar statement.
How we check
- Rockstar first. Prices, editions, requirements, role details and event dates are read from Rockstar's store, its Red Dead Online pages, Newswire and Support, in a browser, on the date shown on each page.
- Then a community reference, for what Rockstar does not publish. Mechanics such as honor values, horse bonding and the 100% checklist come from a long-running community wiki. We check each against the others and say Community on the page.
- Never copied. Rockstar's posts are summarized and linked, not reproduced. The community reference is used to check facts, and everything on this site is written in our own words.
- We say what we could not check. If a number is unconfirmed, or looks outdated, the page says so rather than guessing.
What we do not do
- We do not host or hotlink Rockstar's images, video or logos.
- We do not read Rockstar's pages from your browser. Everything you see was checked ahead of time, so the site works even if Rockstar's site is down.
- We do not publish exact numbers from memory. If we could not source it, it is not here.
- We do not put story spoilers in page titles, descriptions, social previews or search results.
Keeping it fresh
Each page shows the date it was last checked. The Red Dead Online "this month" page has one more safeguard: it knows its event's end date. After that date, the page changes itself to say the event has ended and points you to Rockstar Newswire, instead of calling it current. The event data lives in one small file that is refreshed each month.
Prices are time-stamped because they change. Requirements are time-stamped because Rockstar can change them. If you see something that looks wrong or old, please tell the Crogin Gaming Network through the main site.
Artwork
Where a page shows artwork, it is original CGN fan art inspired by the game. It is not Rockstar artwork and does not claim to show official scenes.
Type and tools
Headings use Playfair Display and body text uses Source Sans 3, both under the SIL Open Font License and served from this site. The pages load nothing from other websites.
Unofficial Crogin Gaming Network is an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

What we read and when
All sources were read on the dates shown. Community pages are one reference, and are never treated as Rockstar statements.
