Gear and progress
100% completion
"100%" in Red Dead Redemption 2 is not "everything in the game". It is a specific list the game tracks under Progress, Total Completion. Here it is, with a tracker you can tick off. Your ticks stay in this browser.

What counts
Pause the game and go to Progress, then Total Completion to see your own progress at any time. The list below follows a community reference, checked September 30, 2026. Reaching 100% gives a short unique scene, a journal entry and the "Best in the West" achievement. Community
Kept light on story We do not describe the final scene. The checklist is written to stay spoiler-light: one item is marked "Late story" and says only that it opens after the game is finished.
Tips from the list
- The most Health, Stamina or Dead Eye you can reach without the challenge gear is level 8. The last two levels need the reinforced gear the trapper sells after certain challenges.
- A train robbery can be as small as stealing a can of food from the back of the train.
- You only need one point of interest, one full cigarette card set and any five legendary animals.

What the list does not require
Plenty of things fill the map that you do not need for 100%. Skipping them does not hurt your completion score.
- Gold medals on every mission, and all companion activities and item requests.
- Every camp upgrade, every chore, every stranger strand, every bounty and every random encounter.
- Every treasure chain, hideout and point of interest.
- Every animal, fish, horse, plant and weapon in the compendium, and filling each page to 100%.
- Every hat, mask, document, unique item, talisman and trinket, and every clothing item and achievement.
Going beyond 100%
If you are playing for everything, a few things can only be done during certain chapters. The chapter guide collects them, with spoiler warnings.
